Goal Setting for 2020

I have been giving the HR training for my company on goal setting, last year we did SMART goal setting, this year, we will be doing "How to reach your goal?"

I, personally, have benefited tremendously from it when I prepare the materials and conduct teachings.

There are few things I have learnt:-

1. SMART goal seems very easy to understand but often it is hardest part for goal setting.

Goal setting is the process for personal growth,  those who set goals are more successful than those who do not.  But, goal specificity is the first criteria to ensure better goal attainment.  

One should have clear vision of long term and short term goal.  All of goals setting can use WOOP method

- Define your Wishes, visualize your goal, to understand yourself what you really want and what are you capable of?  This involves some honest soul searching
- Image the best Outcome when you reaching your goal, image and experience the feeling. 
- Then think about Obstacles that prevent you reaching goals; 
- Make a IF/THEN  Plan

2.  Set up GPS and A

G: Goal Specific
P: Establish a 90 days benchmark and create a weekly battle plan
S: Set schedule and execute daily
A: Final accountability partner to hold you accountable.

3. Focus on Process rather on Result Goal

While the result is important, but the process is substance of what attributes to reaching your goal. Goals without action, plan and commitment are just wishes; when you honestly execute WOOP technique and follow GPSA, work on your daily process, you will for sure improve and results comes naturally.

Even if you do not achieve your result, your own growth have leveled yourself so much higher,  you have so much better chance to be successful on any results you wish to achieve.
