日本人といえば、日本人は心から親切で思いやりがあり、礼儀正しいと一般に考えられています。 私はこの観点を直接経験しました。
In one of
my business trips, I was taking flight back to Singapore. I had tough week for business and was totally
exhausted, short after settling down on my seat. I felt asleep.
私の出張の1つで、シンガポールに飛行機で戻っていました。 仕事で大変な一週間を過ごし、完全に疲れたいた。席に着いたとたんに、 眠ってしまった。
I didn’t
know how long I slept, when I finally woke up.
I heard the lady beside me shouted out “ やーだ“,
ついに目が覚めたとき、私はどれくらい眠ったかわかりませんでした。 隣のおばさんはが「やーだ」と叫ぶのを聞いた。
I was at
aisle seat, as I always do. There were an old couple in their late 60 or early
70s setting beside me taking window seat.
いつも、私は通路側の席に着く。 60後半から70年代前半にかけて、窓際の席に座っている老夫婦がいました。
Then I
realised they did not wake me up, even they needed to go to bathroom, they
waited till I woke up.
彼らはトイレに行きたくても、私が起きるまで待っていた。
That was how kind they were! I felt so terribly
sorry, I looked my watched I slept for almost 5 hours.
そんなに彼らがどれほど親切だったかでした！時計を見ると、私はほぼ5時間眠ってしまった、私はとても申し訳ないきむちなりました。
They didn’t
speak any English, so with my broken Japanese, we managed to have conversations.
彼らは英語を話せなかったので、私の下手な日本語で、なんとか会話をすることができました。
The husband
had been Singapore many times, but it was the first time for him to bring his
wife to Singapore.
旦那さんは何度もシンガポールに行ったことがありますが、奥さんをシンガポールに連れて行くのは初めてでした。
She was like
little girl who could not hide her excitement.
奥さんは、小さな女の子のような、興奮を隠すことができなかった。
They had
been married for 50 years, that was like second honeymoon to them and they
would be staying at they would stay in Marine Sand.
彼らは結婚してから50年経ちますが、それは彼らにとって2回目の新婚旅行のようであり、彼らはマリンサンドに滞在するつむりでしたといわれた。。
I can never
forget them, to me, they thoroughly represented kindness of Japanese
people. Till today, I still want to say
“Thank you”
忘れられない、日本人の優しさを徹底的に表現してくれました。 今日まで「ありがとう」と言いたい。
